Prof. Maximilian Marcoll, geboren 1981 in L\u00fcbeck, absolvierte zun\u00e4chst ein Schlagzeugstudium am Institut f\u00fcr schulbegleitende Musikausbildung an der L\u00fcbecker Musikhochschule. Im Anschluss studierte er bis 2006 instrumentale und elektronische Komposition an der Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik in L\u00fcbeck und der Folkwang Universit\u00e4t Essen. Bereits 1999 gr\u00fcndete und leitete er das Ensemble Neue Musik L\u00fcbeck, drei Jahre sp\u00e4ter folgte die Gr\u00fcndung des Elektronik-Duos \u201edis.playce\u201c. Im Jahr 2006 wurde er Mitglied der K\u00fcnstlergruppe \u201eStock11\u201c, und von 2008 bis 2018 \u00fcbernahm Maximilian Marcoll die technische Leitung des Festivals \u201eKlangwerkstatt Berlin\u201d.

Mitte der 2010er Jahre weilte er als \u201eComposer in Residence\u201c am \u201eCentro Mexicano para la M\u00fasica y las Artes Sonoras\u201c in Morelia (Mexiko), am \u201eInstitute for Computer Music and Sound Technology\u201c in Z\u00fcrich (Schweiz), im K\u00fcnstlerhaus \u201eLukas\u201c in Ahrenshoop (Deutschland) \u2013 und 2020 am Institut f\u00fcr Elektronische Musik und Akustik in Graz (\u00d6sterreich).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sein kompositorisches Schaffen ist auf einer Vielzahl von CD-Einspielungen in den Labels \u201eWergo\u201c, \u201eNaivsuper\u201c, \u201eGenuin\u201c u.a. dokumentiert. Marcolls Werke wurden auf zahlreichen Festivals sowie von namhaften Ensembles im In- und Ausland aufgef\u00fchrt, darunter das Ensemble Mosaik, Neue Vocalsolisten, Ensemble UnitedBerlin, Ensemble Cotrechamps, Ensemble Vortex, Suono Mobile, Cepromusic, Ensemble Resonanz und Ensemble Liminar. Am Pult standen dabei Dirigenten wie u.a. Vladimir Jurowski, Enno Poppe und Jos\u00e9-Luis Castillo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Als P\u00e4dagoge hielt Maximilian Marcoll Gastvortr\u00e4ge und gab Meisterkurse in ganz Deutschland sowie in Paris (IRCAM), London (Brunel), Huddersfield, Leeds, Belfast (SARC), Tiflis, Mexico City, Morelia (CMMAS), Wien, Z\u00fcrich und Graz. Von 2007 bis 2014 war er Lehrbeauftragter f\u00fcr Musikinformatik am Institut f\u00fcr Musik und Medien der Robert Schumann Hochschule D\u00fcsseldorf, parallel lehrte er bis 2020 am Institut f\u00fcr Studienvorbereitende Ausbildung der Musikschule Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg in Berlin die F\u00e4cher Komposition, Tontechnik sowie Musiktheorie und Geh\u00f6rbildung. Au\u00dferdem war von 2017 bis 2020 Lehrbeauftragter f\u00fcr Audioprogrammierung an der Hochschule f\u00fcr K\u00fcnste Bremen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maximilian Marcoll, born in L\u00fcbeck in 1981, first studied percussion at the Institute for School Accompanying Music Education at the L\u00fcbeck Academy of Music. Then He studied instrumental and electronic composition at the University of Music in L\u00fcbeck and the Folkwang University in Essen until 2006. As early as 1999 he founded and directed the Ensemble Neue Musik L\u00fcbeck, followed three years later by the founding of the electronic duo „dis.playce“. In 2006 he became a member of the artist group „Stock11“, and from 2008 to 2018 Maximilian Marcoll took over the technical direction of the festival „Klangwerkstatt Berlin“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the mid-2010s, he stayed as „Composer in Residence“ at the „Centro Mexicano para la M\u00fasica y las Artes Sonoras“ in Morelia (Mexico), at the „Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology“ in Zurich (Switzerland), at the „K\u00fcnstlerhaus Lukas“ in Ahrenshoop (Germany) – and in 2020 at the Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics in Graz (Austria).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His compositional work is documented on a large number of CD recordings on the labels „Wergo“, „Naivsuper“, „Genuin“ and others. Marcoll’s works have been performed at numerous festivals and by renowned ensembles at home and abroad, including Ensemble Mosaik, Neue Vocalsolisten, Ensemble UnitedBerlin, Ensemble Cotrechamps, Ensemble Vortex, Suono Mobile, Cepromusic, Ensemble Resonanz and Ensemble Liminar. Conductors at the podium included Vladimir Jurowski, Enno Poppe and Jos\u00e9-Luis Castillo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a teacher, Maximilian Marcoll has given guest lectures and masterclasses throughout Germany as well as in Paris (IRCAM), London (Brunel), Huddersfield, Leeds, Belfast (SARC), Tbilisi, Mexico City, Morelia (CMMAS), Vienna, Zurich and Graz. From 2007 to 2014 he was a lecturer in music informatics at the Institute for Music and Media at the Robert Schumann Hochschule D\u00fcsseldorf, and at the same time, he taught composition, sound engineering, music theory and ear training at the Institute for Preparatory Studies at the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Music School in Berlin until 2020. He was also a lecturer for audio programming at the Hochschule f\u00fcr K\u00fcnste Bremen from 2017 to 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
